Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of JapanHands, a community platform for discovering Japan-connected events and organizations. By using JapanHands, applying to list an organization, or using Organization Management, you agree to these Terms.
Who operates JapanHands
JapanHands is operated by the National Association of Japan-America Societies, Inc. (NAJAS), 1819 L Street NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20036. The platform is intended as a neutral, community-serving resource—not as a single-organization promotional site.
The service
JapanHands provides a free public directory and events calendar, optional email updates, organization applications, and Organization Management tools for approved organization representatives. Features may change as the platform grows.
Eligibility and accounts
You may browse public pages without an account. To apply to list an organization or use Organization Management, you must be authorized to represent that organization and provide accurate information. Organization Management uses email sign-in links and an essential session cookie. Keep access to your registered inbox secure. We may suspend access if an account is misused or no longer authorized.
User content
When you submit organization profiles, events, logos, images, or other materials (“User Content”), you retain your rights in that content. You grant JapanHands and NAJAS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute the User Content as needed to operate the public directory and calendar. You represent that you have the rights to submit the User Content and that it does not infringe others’ rights or violate law.
Accuracy and moderation
Listing details are provided by participating organizations. JapanHands does not guarantee that listings are complete, current, or error-free. We may approve, deny, edit, unpublish, or remove content when appropriate to protect visitors or the platform.
Prohibited conduct
You agree not to misrepresent your identity or authority, impersonate others, submit unlawful or harmful content, disrupt or abuse the service, or use JapanHands for unsolicited commercial messaging unrelated to legitimate Japan-connected community activity.
Intellectual property and disclaimers
JapanHands branding, site design, and platform materials (other than User Content) are owned by NAJAS or its licensors. JapanHands is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, NAJAS disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and will not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of JapanHands. Our total liability for any claim relating to JapanHands will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100), except where law requires otherwise.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in the District of Columbia will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version and effective date below will change when we do. Material changes may require renewed acknowledgment before you submit an organization application or continue using Organization Management.
