Mission

Our mission is to deepen mutual understanding between the United States and Japan through meaningful, high-quality education and exchange programs. We administer government-sponsored initiatives and provide J-1 visa sponsorship under U.S. Department of State designation, helping students, educators, families, schools, and communities open doors, embrace cultures, and become family.

Programs

J-LEAP and the Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI); New Perspectives: Japan (NP:J); the Oka Fund; PAX High School Exchange; and selected short-term exchange initiatives, including the KAKEHASHI Project

Opportunities

Students and educators can participate in curriculum-based study travel to Japan; U.S. schools and nonprofit organizations can apply to host J-LEAP Assistant Teachers or JOI Coordinators; educators, students, and Japan-focused programs can seek Oka Fund grants; and families and schools can host international high school students through PAX.
