Japan America Society of Iowa

Founded in 1989, the Japan America Society of Iowa (JASI) is a nonprofit organization that connects the people of Iowa and Japan through cultural, educational, and business exchanges. JASI serves as a resource for Japanese culture and information in Iowa, offering opportunities to explore traditions, build relationships, and strengthen connections between the two communities.

To foster a harmonious and supportive relationship between Iowa and Japan through immersive cultural experiences, educational programs, and opportunities for meaningful exchange and mutual understanding.

- Cultural Arts and Traditions: Japanese tea ceremony, calligraphy, kimono, taiko performances, and other cultural demonstrations. - Festivals and Community Events: CelebrAsian Japan Village, annual sake event, seasonal celebrations, and public cultural presentations. - Language and Education: Japanese language classes, school outreach, educational workshops and opportunities. - Arts and Cultural Projects: Traditional Japanese arts, the Japanese Teahouse Project, and performances by visiting and local Japanese artists. - Business and Community Connections: Business Social networking event, Japan-related information, and programs that encourage collaboration between Iowa and Japan. - Sister-State, Sister Cities and International Exchange: Activities that supports relationships between Iowa and its sister-state, Yamanashi Prefecture, and foster connections with Japan.
